Hollywood Walk of Fame

Apparently you do not need to be a celebrity anymore to reserve yourself a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I read in the latest issue of Advertising Age that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce opened up the Walk of Fame to brand names such as L’Oreal and Absolut - for $1 million dollars. However, don’t expect the Walk of Fame to turn into the Brand Walk of Fame; the Chamber is only looking to get five sponsors to raise enough money to repair the famous walkway. Also, don’t expect to skip, walk or run along the sidewalk and read “Lucille Ball…Arnold Schwarzenegger…Absolute Vodka!…Cameron Diaz…The Beatles…L’Oreal!.” The sponsors’ stars are located on the same sidewalk, but are six inches off to the side. On a good note, it’s about time some of these brands receive some Hollywood recognition because their ad campaigns are legendary, at least for us advertising junkies.
